City of Angels (audio post)

On a whim, I decided to post this poem here tonight. It was a piece I wrote soon after moving to LA in 1996, on the heels of my divorce and my desertion by The Panther.

There's a sense of doom in it (and, yes, there are blunt references to the merchandising of sex in that city's culture) but it was also very honest about my freedom, that my knowledge that I had been stripped of everything of value: my children, my house, my money, my lover, and driven into exile, I still was myself...

I plan to read again in LA, in Venice, on my tour next year...it will be, in many ways, a homecoming.
