Black sheep media and the facts in the case of Ted Haggard

Well, another turn of the tide for the Evangelical Movement in America and their political brethern with the accusations being made against The Reverend Ted Haggard.

Those who want to see him fall will automatically believe the charges that he has been paying a male prostitute for sex for the past few years. Those who don't want to believe the charges, won't.

Me? I don't know. I don't care. My opposition to a ban on same-sex unions remains the same regardless of what any man whom I have never met and will probably never meet did or did not do with his genitals half a continent away.

Let's be blunt. If the charges are true, he is a hypocrite. If they are false, the man bringing them is a liar. Which entitles either one of them to their own talk show on cable TV or on radio.

We may never know the truth, and the media, especially in this competitive environment, has quit caring about the truth...they care about selling advertisements and a largere readership or viewership gets to charge more for Viagra ads.

No matter who is in the wrong, we are, at least in part, dirty, as well. And again, just as in the John Kerry incident a few days ago, the media is allowing the triviata to obscure the important in this election season, like Tom Cruise becoming a studio executive. Now there's something more important than world hunger, war, the cracking of the human genome, political issues of real substance or WVU losing to Louisville.

Yes, indeed.
